Aishwarya Rai and Naomi Watts pose for a photo at the Global Partnership Forum Women Leaders event held at The Yale Club on Monday (September 24) in New York City. The two actresses, who spoke at the event, were joined by fellow activists First Lady of Mali Lobbo Traore Toure, UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe, Director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University Jeffrey Sachs, and Coumba Toure. That same day, Aishwarya was named the UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador. “Spreading awareness on health issues, especially related to women and children, has always been a priority for me,” Aishwarya said in a statement. “And now, as a new mother, I can personally relate to this – the joys and concerns of every mother and the hopes that we have for our children.” “I strongly believe that every baby should be born free from HIV. And I wish that every woman living with HIV stays healthy and has access to treatment. I promise that with UNAIDS, I will do my utmost to make this happen,” she concluded.
